Dub Architect: Based outside of Charlottesville, VA, Justin Pietro a.k.a. Dub Architect, has been heavily involved in the US reggae scene for the better part of the last decade. By blending traditional dubwise reggae remixing techniques with new technology and ideas of what “dub” can mean, Dub Architect aims to bring live dubwise reggae to the forefront of the emerging US scene by working with heavy-hitters such as 10 time Grammy nominees Third World, Easy Star All-Stars, The Green, & Rebelution as well as lesser known but equally talented artists. His first album, Dub Volume 1 (released June 2012) is available as a free download. With over 2000 copies of the first installment downloaded, Dub Volume 2 (released October 2013) debuted to praises from publications such as ThePier.org who called the album “a well produced head nodder from start to finish.” After playing in numerous roots and dub outfits around the DC/MD/VA area, the multi-instrumentalist and dub producer co-founded Dub Campaign as an outlet to demonstrate live dub techniques with a full band. Dub Architect co-produced and mixed Dub Campaign’s debut EP, Lion in Disguise, (released January 2013) and served as the executive producer for the band’s B-side dub remix album Lion in Dub (released April 2013).
True Press: True Press is from Los Angeles, CA pushing to bring their progressive reggae sound to new audiences. The message is simple: bring people together, rise up, unite and enjoy life! Music has a tendency of bringing us together and taking us for a ride, and True Press is exactly that. The group met in Monrovia, CA and soon after began jamming in an abandoned house with no electricity except for the 100 foot extension chord running from the house next door to provide whatever power they could 'borrow'. Pedro, Johnny and KP began jammin around 2006 with Gyl Bonus earning his spot in 2010 shredding lead guitar. Not long after, True Press released their first EP "Sweet Reggae"and have been determined to bring their message wherever they go. With recent additions, Dan Kirihara, Pat Ruiz and Chris Parkhurst the group is ready with a new live energy and sound to rock any venue. Their first national tour "It's All A Jam" supporting Fortunate Youth kicks off early March 2014 along with their first full length album titled "Anything's Possible"... From daily struggles to world news, the message really is simple. It's more of a movement..... a TRUE PRESS !!!
Arise Roots: With the goal of continuing the momentum of their debut EP, Arise Roots began production of their first full length album. They’ve spent the last year sharing the stage with some of the biggest touring acts in reggae such as, Barrington Levy, Kymani Marley, The Wailers, Don Carlos, Gondwana, Midnite and even hip hop heavy hitters, Public Enemy. The goal of Arise Roots is to create a fresh reggae sound with a modern feel that appeals to all ages and races, but one that doesn’t compromise the true feel of roots reggae. Anybody who has had the opportunity to witness the band play a live show understands the powerful sound and positive vibrations that they produce. “Moving Forward” was recorded at top Los Angeles studio Kingsize Soundlabs with the help of veteran sound engineers Brian Dixon and Richard Robinson. With a solid foundation of sound, Brian Wallace was brought in to master the album and add all the finishing touches. Always paying homage to past reggae legends, the album Moving Forward brings to mind the influences of Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Bob Marley and The Wailers, Israel Vibrations, Alton Ellis and Gregory Isaacs. From a broader view, “Moving Forward” is an album for the people that creates consciousness with a modern edge, yet grounded in traditional roots.
